Reflection
Below is my persuasive essay! We were able to choose any topic that we were interested in. Then, we turned our essay into a speech, and presented it in front of the class. When I wrote this essay, I learned how to pick one side of an argument, and persuade the reader to join my side. Also, saying the speech in front of the class made me less nervous about talking in front of people. What I found interesting is that yoga has many different aspect to it. When I researched it, I learned many new facts. The only question I would have is what the best way to start your essay is. I can connect this to the outside world because we are being persuaded every day, we just might not be aware of it.

Persuasive Essay
What if there was an easy form of exercise that could not only tone your body, but bring peace to your mind and soul? Not enough people have found the correct solution to a healthy body and mind. Little do they know, the answer is quite simple. Yoga has been dated back to 3000 B.C.; Physical evidence of participation in this activity was found on ancient artifacts.Centuries ago, Yoga was referred to as “A way of healing members of the community.” People everywhere should be aware of Yoga because it is a simple and effective way to stay fit, meanwhile, becoming more intune with yourself. If this problem is not solved, obesity will remain an issue throughout the United States. More people should practice yoga in their daily routines because it has many surprising health perks, results in weight loss, and is one of the simplest solutions to a fit body and a healthy lifestyle.
Yoga has many surprising health benefits that most people aren’t aware of. There are many great things that it does for you. Some of these perks are an ease in back pain, fighting depression and anxiety, and an “insomnia buster”. This wonderful exercise also boosts your memory, fights arthritis, and helps to cure heart disease. Each pose gives you benefits that improve your health
through flexibility and strengthening. It is amazing how many things you can do for yourself just by spending a little time a day practicing yoga. Likewise, All These benefits not only improve you physically, but mentally as well. Mary Glover, a proud yoga doer, said herself “For me, yoga is not just a workout. It’s about working on yourself.” Working on all the different poses is a way of making your mind stronger and improving it’s skills. Some people may argue that there are better solutions to curing your mind and body. However, I say that there are other solutions to become healthy, but there is no other exercise that does all these things simultaneously. People all around the world are living painfree and energetically, due to making a commitment to yoga.
Many people aren’t aware that practicing yoga can result in weight loss. First, Engaging in this physical activity boosts your metabolism, which causes your body to burn fat. Statistics show that 80% of the calories you burn are burned due to a fast metabolism. Developing a fast and good working metabolism is a great and effective way to burn more calories. In Addition, Everyone has a hormone in their body called cortisol, which is what promotes cravings for sweet foods and fat storage. Yoga burns that fat by lowering the cortisol levels of your body and allowing stored fat to be released as energy. In a previous study, cortisol levels were measured from 16 men and women. After a 15 minute yoga session, their
cortisol levels were measured again. Every sample showed signs of lowered levels of this hormone in the body. Some people argue that medications for weight loss is the answer. However, taking medication to lose weight is very unhealthy and has various negative side effects. Also, some people may argue that some peoples’ condition of being overweight is too extreme to be corrected by yoga. However, yoga helps your digestive system, which lowers food cravings. So if these people had been practicing yoga in the first place, they never would have become obese. This is an excellent exercise for anyone who wishes to lose any amount of weight.
